Bringing Your Authentic Self to the Hiring Process in an AI-Enabled World

At Mutual of Omaha, we’re continually looking for new ways to use artificial intelligence to make our jobs easier, smarter and more human.

That same innovative mindset shapes how we approach hiring, too. We’ve found AI can help simplify tasks, spark new ideas and give candidates a boost as they prepare for the interview process. But no matter how advanced this rapidly growing technology gets, we value our people and the talents, skills and judgment they bring to our team.

Transparency, integrity and real connection have always been at the heart of how we do business. With that in mind, we see AI as a valuable tool that should be used to help show your best self — not to overshadow who you truly are.

How We Encourage Candidates to Use AI

When used thoughtfully, AI can be powerful. If you’re a candidate for a position here, we encourage you to use it to help you feel confident, prepared and polished. For example:

  • To proofread and polish your resume, cover letters or other written application materials for grammar, clarity and spelling

  • To help prepare for interviews, including practicing answers, brainstorming examples to share or even easing nerves with positive affirmations

  • To research Mutual of Omaha, our mission and our culture

  • To showcase projects that used AI tools, if you clearly note how AI contributed and what your specific role was

  • To demonstrate your AI fluency for some of our roles, particularly in technology, digital, analytics and design

These uses of AI can help bring your most authentic, confident self to the hiring process.

How We Discourage the Use of AI

While AI can help you prepare, it should never replace your own experiences, skills or voice. To keep our hiring process fair, equitable and centered on your actual potential, we discourage the use of AI to:

  • Generate core interview responses or application answers

  • Submit work — written statements, code, designs or assignments — that was produced primarily by AI rather than your own thinking

  • Record interviews or capture sensitive information

  • Fabricate skills, experiences or qualifications

  • Complete assessments intended to evaluate your natural abilities, judgment or problem-solving approach

  • Include confidential or proprietary information from outside organizations in any materials you submit to us

These practices compromise fairness and don’t give us a true sense of how you think, collaborate and solve problems — skills that are vital to building a successful career at Mutual of Omaha.

Keeping the Focus on You

AI can be a helpful companion in your career journey, but it should never stand in for your authentic voice.

At Mutual of Omaha, we’re looking for people who are curious, honest and ready to grow with us. Using AI responsibly helps ensure we understand you and that you start your career with us on the strongest possible foundation.

We’re excited to get to know the real you.
